Jesus in the Bible
Jesus (PBUH) never claimed to be God or Divine. Trinity is not explicitly mentioned in the Bible, anywhere. It was infused into Christianity by Constantine in the Council of Nicea in 325 AD. Jesus (PBUH) always called out to his God, the one and only God of all creations, for help and guidance. He never claimed divinity and never told people to worship him. Following are some of the verses that clearly indicate that Jesus (PBUH) was a man, a very honored creation of God, a Prophet, and certainly not God or Son of God. God is One. Do not make Images/worship Idols. “You shall have no gods before me.” [Exodus 20:3, Deuteronomy 5:7].
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is One!” [Deuteronomy 6:4].
“You shall not make for yourself a carved image – any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth;” [Exodus 20:4, Deuteronomy 5:8].
Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to me, for I have not yet ascended to my Father, but go to my brethren and say to them, “I am ascending to my Father and your Father, and to my God and your God.”” [John 20:17].
“To you first, God, having raised up his Servant Jesus, sent him to bless you…” [Acts 3:26].
“God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should repent.” [Numbers 23:19].
“But now you seek to kill me, a Man who has told you the truth which I heard from God. Abraham did not do this.” (Jesus said) [John 8:40].
So Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good?” “No one is good but one, that is God.” [Mark 10:18]. And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, Lama Sabachthan?”, that is “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” [Matthew 27:46, Mark 15:34].
Top 10 Reasons why Jesus can’t be God
- And he said to them “What things?” And they said to him, “Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, a man who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people.” [Luke 24:19].
- Jesus rebuked people who called him divine. So Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good?” “No one is good but one, that is God.” [Mark 10:18].
- God doesn’t change and doesn’t take the attributes of his creation. God is constant, everlasting.
- “Son of God” title was not exclusive to Jesus. In old Jewish tradition, “Son of God” & “Lord” were used to show respect. “For all who are led by the spirit of God are Sons of God” [Romans 8:14].
- Jesus has said explicitly that he was sent by God as a messenger. “And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” [John 17:3].
- Jesus ate, slept, drank – to survive. Jesus prayed to God. Jesus was not self sufficient but God is. Jesus did not know everything. When asked about the “hour”, he said he had no knowledge.
- Early Christians were Jews and accepted Jesus as their prophet enforcing the messages of Moses (Dead Sea Scroll, people of Qumran). Trinity did not exist in Christianity until Paul introduced it and then was indoctrinated in Council of Nicea in 325 AD. Jesus went to temple and prayed with the Jews and did not build his own temple.
- No one can see God, no one has seen God: “No one has ever seen God; the only God.” (John 1:18). “And the father who sent me has himself borne witness about me. His voice you have never heard, his form you have never seen.” [John 5:37].
- There is no explicit reference in anywhere in Bible where Jesus claims to be God.
- God can not be born. God has no beginning or ending, Jesus was born.
