The Dawah Script

Prospect: Can I have a FREE Quran?
Member: Of course, in English or Spanish?
Prospect: English.
Member: Can I ask what is your religious background?

Prospect: I’m Muslim
Member: Nice! Salaam Alaykum! You can get more copies for friends or neighbors interested in Islam ✅ InshaAllah.

Prospect: I’m Atheist, Christian, Buddhist, not sure.
Member: OK, I have a few brochures for you. If you have a couple of minutes, Can I tell you about Islam?
Prospect: Yes.
Member: Islam means acquiring peace by submitting your will to God. We believe that God knows everything, has no beginning or end, is neither male or female, and is the creator of everything, including you and me. For instance, If I said this mall was built by no one and it just appeared with all its designs and the shops being in the exact orientation that it is in, or if I claimed throwing some dust in the air turns it into an iPhone, with all the circuits and the design of the camera, would you believe me?
Prospect: No.
Member: If you believe the mall and iPhone were built by someone, what about the universe? What happens if the sun was closer to us?
Prospect: Burn to death.
Member: What if the sun was far from us?
Prospect: Freeze to death.
Member: Who put the sun in the right place?
Prospect: I’m not sure, God?!
Member: So, we believe a superpower, which we call “God”, created everything. If God created us, don’t you think there’s a purpose?
Prospect: Yes.

Prospect: No, I’m running late/I have to go.
Member: No problem, we try to be here _________ (date and time of table), so if you are in the neighborhood and have any questions, feel free to stop by.

Prospect: Sure, I have a couple of minutes.
Member: Starting off, Islam means acquiring peace by submitting your will to the one God, or Allah in Arabic. We believe that God knows everything, has no beginning or end, is neither male or female, and is the creator of everything, including you and me.

Member: If God has a purpose, wouldn’t he communicate this to us?
Prospect: Yes.
Member: In Islam, we Muslims believe that we were sent to this life for a purpose and that the purpose was communicated to us through the use of prophets. For instance, we believe God sent prophets like Adam, Moses, Jesus, and we believe that the last and final prophet is prophet Muhammad (PBUH). We believe that all of the prophets came down with the same message, to worship the one, true creator. We also believe that the prophets had signs to prove that they were prophets of God.

Miracles of The Prophets

Member: For instance, do you know the miracle of Moses?
Prospect: Split the Red Sea.
Member: Right, and do you know the miracle of Jesus?
Prospect: Heal the blind, give life to the dead.
Member: Correct, he was born miraculously with no father, but we don’t believe that this makes a God or divine; it was an act of God. Using the same logic, Adam and Eve were born miraculously with no father nor mother; they would be better Gods! (would be a greater Gods!)
Member: And do you know any miracles of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)?
Prospect: No.

Miracle of The Quran

Member: The Quran is the miracle of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH); it’s the word of God. The Quran is a linguistic, mathematical and scientific miracle, etc.. The Quran is written 1,400 years go, unchanged, and never contradicts itself and it mentions miracles like the big bang theory and the expansion of the universe. It also mentions embryology in great detail, such as how the bones form before the flesh. When you think about it, who could know all this 1,400 years ago?
Prospect: I don’t know.

Preservation of The Quran

Member: Right, this is stuff we have discovered within the last 100 years. Something else about the Quran is that it has been preserved since the moment it was revealed. If you compare the Arabic text, which is the language the Quran was revealed in, to the Arabic text of 1,400 years ago, which we do have the manuscripts, word for word, it is the exact same. As a matter of fact, if you were to burn all the copies of the Quran in the world today, by tomorrow, we would have them back due to the sheer amount of people who have memorized it by heart.

Member: Islam is a matter of faith, logical and reasonable. Read the Quran and prove it yourself. It talks about life’s purpose, purifying the soul, worshiping one God, and practicing generosity.

Believing in The Past Scriptures

Member: Something else about Islam, is that we believe that the Torah and Bible are revelations of God as well. It’s just that over time, things were added, removed, lost in translation to the point that it can’t be used anymore as a guide, hence the revelation of the Quran.

The 5 Pillars

Member: Now as Muslims, we have a framework to maintain our faith on the right path. We call this framework the 5 pillars of Islam. The pillars are Shahadah meaning testimony of faith, Salah meaning Prayer, Zakat meaning Charity, Sawm meaning Fasting, and Hajj meaning Pilgrimage.

To become Muslim and enter the fold of Islam, we have the Shahadah. It is a phase that is the foundation of Islamic belief, and the phase is “I testify that no one deserves to be worshiped except Allah and I testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.” This declaration represents as a testimony or evidence upon oneself to accept Islam as the true religion of God, and it is the saying of entry into the fold of Islam.

The second pillar is prayer. Muslims have 5 mandatory prayers a day, however, we can pray almost anytime and anywhere. The prayer is the direct link between a Muslim and God, and each prayer can be done within a few minutes. we do not believe in having a middleman or intermediaries, just us and God.

The third pillar is Zakat. We Muslims believe that everything is this world belongs to God and that wealth is given to humans in trust. So, we believe in giving to the needy and helping those who need help because God gives us the opportunity to do good and help others. In Islam, Muslims are to donate 2.5% of our wealth, on top of what we donate on a regular basis, to charity and that money cannot be used for
anything else other than that.

The fourth pillar is Fasting. Every year, during the month of Ramadan, Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset. No food or water or intimate relationships. There are a lot of benefits of fasting in terms of health, but there are also spiritual benefits as well. For example. by cutting oneself from the world’s pleasures for a short time, we can humble ourselves, build discipline, and grow spiritually.

The last pillar is Pilgrimage or Hajj. Hajj is a process where a Muslim will travel to the Kaaba in mecca, and preform acts of worship, such as circling the Kaaba, and men wearing simple clothing to remove any social class and culture, signifying equalness. Hajj is done in a particular time every year and is also mandatory for a Muslim to complete once in a lifetime. However, if someone is financially or physically not able to go, he is forgiven for not completing it.

The Conclusion

Member: That’s about it, to put it into conclusion, we believe in one God and one God alone. We do not associate any partners with him whatsoever. We believe in all the Prophets and all their signs, and we also believe in a day of judgment where we are judged for everything that we do, we don’t believe that anyone is held accountable for anything anyone else does.
Member: Does that make sense? Do you have any questions about what I just said or anything about Islam in general?

The Shahadah

Member: Now with that understanding, let me ask if you this, do you believe in one God?
Prospect: Yes.
Member: Do you believe in Jesus as a prophet?
Prospect: Yes.
Member: Do you believe in Muhammad as a prophet?
Prospect: Yes.
Member: Then you already have the belief of a Muslim; remember in the beginning, I said the meaning of Muslim is someone who submits their will to God, and we believe that all prophets were Muslim. The same message of worshiping the one God is the belief of Noah, Moses, Abraham, Jesus, and the last prophet, Muhammad (PBUH).
Member: If you’d like to become Muslim and enter the fold of Islam, you can take the Shahadah now with me.
Prospect: Yes.
Member: Recite the Shahadah ☝️ and let him say after you in English, then in Arabic (word by word).
Member: “I testify that no one deserves to be worshiped except Allah and I testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.”
