  • Surah Maryam (Chapter of Mary) is the 19th chapter of the Quran with 98 verses. Quran [19:1-98]
  • In total there are at least seventy (70) Quranic verses that mention Mary.
  • Mary, the mother of Jesus, is amongst the most important women in the Quran, however, she is the only one identified by name. She is described as one of the greatest women of all time in the Quran as well.
  • Jesus is mentioned by name or title seventy-eight (78) times in the Quran.
  • According to the Quran Muhammad is the last in a chain of prophets sent by God [33:40]. The name “Muhammad” is mentioned four (4) times in the Quran, and the name “Ahmad” (another variant of the name of Muhammad) is mentioned one (1) time.
  • The name Mary is found in 49 verses: in 10 cases, two different Marys are mentioned in a single verse, while in the other 39 cases, there is only one Mary in a verse.
